Troubles installing gtk

Well.. so I've gotten glib, atk and pango installed, but when I run ./configure on gtk it ends with the error "configure: error: Pango 1.2.0 and Xft backend is required for x11 target"
I'm running on slackware if that helps.
I read in a different thread that I needed some xlib devel things, other than that, I have no idea what to do

Thumbs up

Hi Cubic,

Did you tried to use './configure' with options to help the script to find the include files needed?

I.e.: ./configure --with-pango=/usr/local/pango --with-xft=/usr/X11R6/lib/Xft ...

The above atributes that i gave maybe not be the same used by configure script of gtk, then, look the options running './configure --help'...

If you can't find a option, try to look the config.log file. It is created in the same directory of configure script. Go to the last lines of this file and try to find some error message(s) indicating the problem.

I hope that it help you...

From what I can see, I don't even have that Xft thing in my /usr/X11R6/lib/ directory.
Also, I did a search, and I found a few threads answering the same question. From what I can see, Pango never found Xft itself, but use X as it's backend instead. The thing these don't answer is where to get Xft.
All I'm wondering is how to get, and install this Xft thing.

But thanks for your help anyway.

After using half the day looking for, and installing things. I got it to work.
Seems like I didn't have the full X11 package installed, so I didn't have Xft at all.
I got it all installed, so it should work now.
Thanks anyway.
