Trouble with x server

Hi there, i just installed red hat 9.0 and i seem to be having trouble with the x server. for some reason it wont load. now i chose the right hardware for my videocard and monitor but it's not working, and i have also changed my resoultion from 24 to 16. I do not know the command prompt at all because this is my first time with linux so any help would be great.

My video car is a geforce2 mx400

Thanks in advanced.

Did you download the NVIDIA drivers ? This was a problem in RH 8, you could choose VESA generic driver and 16 bit color this might get X working.

I have not tried RH9, but to re-configure X try:

redhat-config-xfree86 for a graphical install (was on RH8) or
xf86config for a text configuration

Hope this helps
