Question trouble with x


Hi im a newbie to linux
my linux box wont configure x ... with installation it crashed when it started configuring.

when i ran xf86config i configurated using the most conservative settings but i still received a server error. xconfigurator crashes on me, but i still get a server error when i start x...Maybe im not configuring properly????I have a s3 virge (325) video card and i dont know what to do because i am a newbie and i need X to have a look around .. Much appreciated to any one who replies to this thread as im desperate

I'm not too sure but I think that you may have to configure the clock settings for the virge, not sure though.

What is the error printed out? What does it say in /var/log/messages ?
