Trouble with music and video!

Hi everybody!
I installed Linux Ubuntu (for AMD 64 bit)last week, and it is working perfect, but I have a trouble, because I can play only music and videos that are located on a CD , but I can't play music and videos that are stored on my NTFS partitions.
I have already mounted my partitions , and also I 've downloaded the gstreamer plugin .

I mus t say that when I try to do this, first I log as root with command "su". Then I mount my NTFS partions, and after that I type on the terminal window : "Nautilus" just to run the file administrator and to see the mounted units.

What can I do?

I will appreciate any advice

Thanks

Erick

Need to post an error message otherwise we'll take your post and throw it in the river. We can't see your computer like you can, we don't really know whats going on without a lot of info from you.

Can you play any videos that are located on your Ubuntu partition? Are these mp3s or MPEGS?
Ubuntu doesn't come with any MPEG codecs for legal reasons, but you can obtain them.
Also see this page on that:
