Trouble with glib while installing xchat

Hello!

I'm a barehanded newbie, just installed Mandrake 10.1 today and ran into trouble already...

So, I'm trying to install this xchat and after ./config i get eventually the following error:

checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.3... no
*** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GLIB is incorrectly installed.
configure: error: "Cannot find glib"

I don't remember the exact version of glib i installed (it came with the mandrake cd) but i'm positive its > 2.0.3

Some hints would be largely appreciated =)

Cheers,
Mikko

rpm distro.....

look for the glib-2.x.x-devel package, and anything else xchat needs to link against you will have to have the corresponding -devel package installed. Then again, why not use urpmi to install xchat?
