Trouble w/java

I have MDK 9.2 and Opera 7.23 which crases on two sites. I have installed the 1.4.2_01.1mdk 57 MB version from the rpm selections in mdk. Opera recognizes it but still the crashes. Got no help from Opera but read some good things about "Blackdown.org Java 1.4.1_01. New to Linux, where should I download this to and how do I install it? Thanks. P.S. My support from Mandrake Expert won't help me with this because they say java doesn't come with my "Discovery Pack" along with Gnome which is also there and I am using it now. So if it didn't come with it I must have aquired it divinly.

Try: http://www.blackdown.org/ you will find the download itself and docs on how to install it.

I had much better results with Blackdown Java than with Sun Java.

Post ...major help needed....

ok, here's the deal:
I have Mandrake9.2 installed on a P4, 2GHz, 512, 40GB hd and I also have a laptop P3, 800MHz,512 with Redhat (shrike).
On both I usr KDE as GUI and Mozilla 1.4 as my main browser.
If I go:
>Help>About Plugins
it says that JAVA-plugin 1.4.2_03 is installed, but when I try to install LimeWire it tells me that I have to install Java VM....?!?!?!
Doesn't VM come with the SDK package?
I'd love if someone could give me detailed info, since I am on this now for 5 days.
Thank's in advance,
Mike

ok, thanks for the link. I'll try that option asap.

...and: the file in the .mozilla/plugins folder is the virtual link of the libjavaplugin_oji.so
Thanks
Mike

Solution to the problem:

Ok, here's how I did it....

To install Limewire you need to make the following link:

ln -s /usr/j2re1.4.1_01/bin/java /usr/local/bin/java

(it could also be: ln -s /usr/java/j2re****, specify where j2re*** is located!!!)

This will create the symbolic link for programs to use java

Good Luck!
