trouble shooting for JAVA installation

Hey all,
I was trying to install JAVA on my laptop but I got the following errors ! Does any one know how to solve these errors?

E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

Another process is trying to manage packages, or you are not root.

The windows partitions are only viewable once mounted and programs (generally) are not interchangeable.

How are you installing? Assuming you are using Ubuntu, are you using Synaptic Manager? (probably should be if you are new)

No, that can not be the problem.

Become root, and/or find the process that is already trying to manage packages and join it or stop it.
