Angry Trouble installing to hard disc

Please help.

After running the mandrake installer using cdrom.img, the installer runs through checks until examining the partitions on the two hard disks. The first seems to be fine, then it just hangs at the hard disk b (which is a Seagate barracuda 80GB).

What can I do to work around the problem and progress installing.

Do you have another linux partition on your second hard drive ?

No.
There are only windows (FAT32) partitions on the second drive (as well as a little unallocated space. The first HD which seemed Ok had two FAT32 partitions, one Linux Ext2 and one Linux swap.

sorry not quite sure yet, what version of Mandrake are you trying to install ?

Try to re-install and then this time select the "Expert" mode instaed of the "Recommended" mode. That should allow you to manually select installation partitions.

Attempting to install Mandrake 9.
I've already tried expert setup and various other options.
