Trouble compiling PyGTK

I'm attempting to install Nicotine--the soulseek client for linux--and all dependencies were included except PyGTK. I dl'ed, configed, make'd, it. Yet Nicotine still doesn't believe it is installed.

What is going on? Should I be installing this somewhere special?

Warning: if you compile PyGTK yourself, make sure you enable threading support by using ./configure --enable-thread

Did so, the error message remains.

[root@localhost nicotine-1.0.6]# python nicotine
Nicotine supports "psyco", an inline optimizer for python
code, you can get it at http://sourceforge.net/projects/psyco/
Your PyGTK is too old, upgrade to at least PyGTK 1.99.16

Oh, and yeah. I am trying to install PyGTK-2.0.0

quietguy47 01-27-2004 02:42 PM

I would stick with PyGTK 1.99.16 since that is what it is looking for.

PyGTK X >= PyGTL 1.99.16 is what they are looking for.

I will explore your advice, but I expect the problem will remain.

It is as I predicted.

I suspect it is something to do with Nicotine not being able to find PyGTK.

My knowledge of Linux as it is, I can only hypothesize.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Yes but I thank you very much for looking out for me. I appreciate it greatly.
