Trouble Burning DVD Data discs

Good morning all,

Just a quick question regaurding how linux handles burning dvds. More to the point. I recently downloaded
gnomebaker and also tryed Nero linux and when I tryed to create a data disc it burned but when I go to use it in a friends machine and extract the information from the rar files it cannot access it giving an error. It also goes for uncompressed data. Files will not execute or work. The machine being used to look at it is a windows XP machine. Is there a difference in how linux handles data being burned onto a disc that would cause windows to not understand it? It happens with BOTH burning applications. And as far as I know my dvd burner is setup properly as the proper model for it is recognized in FC5.

Any info would be great!

Can you open it back up in linux?

Did you close the session? Nero is notorious for creating open session in a format which cannot be openned on machines that do not have Nero installed. I have never used gnomebaker so can't comment on that.

Just install K3b and use that. It's better than Nero, is open source and has never failed me.

Cheers.
