trouble booting

I just installed mandrake 10.1 and whenever I try to boot it i get this error

Checking root file system
fsck.ext2: unable to resolve 'LABEL=LINUX'
Failed to check filesystem Do you want to repair the errors (y/n)

regardless of weather i type y or n I get this

an erros orrcures during fsck
dropping ot shell
give root password for maitence

I enter the root pw and then get this prompt

(Repair filesystem) 1 #

And I hav'nt a clue what to do from there....
If anyone could help that'd be really awesome

It seems that another distro tagged this partition with a label that you need to get rid of Fedora does this and then
no other distro can recognize it the only solution I have used is to delete the partition completely and re-partition the disk
but there must be an easier way with a partition editor if you know how to use one without hosing the rest of your hard disk

Hi,

Well you just need to run fsck on the root filesystem, for example if your root FS is /dev/hda1, type:
Code:
fsck.ext2 /dev/hda1
then you'll be prompt to repair or not errors

Hi,

If you haven't got sound :

Open a console : su to become root, then your password

Then type "alsaconf", follow instructions

Hopefully you'll be able, as they say , to ENJOY

Cheers
