trivial (maybe) - tiring to death - things in linux (n00b questions)

hi all,

first of all, i'd like to apologize if this post is off topic, but i am not a native english speaker, so i thought this category would do. i just need to tell this to the world, as i would explode if i do not speak about this matters.

it's a year since i first smashed my keyboard in anger over WinXP general uselesness, formatted my win partition (bought new keyboard) and installed linux. now, i'm VERY fond of linux, of its architecture, open software, performance etc. i just love that i can count my uptime in days, not in hours as with win (cursed be thy name forever, you took far too many years off me life). i can't say how much i enjoy several applications like amarok, azureus (i know it has win port, but be real, you call THAT performance?). but sometimes it just makes me wanna cry and tear my hair off

issue one - why for the love of the god allmighty isn't there one web page which would contain a link to program which could actually open .pdb file in linux? and i mean open, not convert (kpalmdoc, kpilot). why after 2 days of googling i found only FBReader, which can only read .prc files, so i do need to rename my .pdb to .prc when i wanna read it. i just can't believe there isn't single iSilo clone out there...

issue two - why for everybody's sake isn't there one tutorial how to get skype running. i tried approx. 10 of them. only result was i got skype working actually in 2 cases, but i had to type that, turn that off, turn something on, etc... why is it one time i try it with artsd -m skype it works just fine, then i turn it off, run it again in a while with the precise same command and it just won't run again (even if i restart sound server (and no, no other app is using sound, and yes i am positive about that))

there are also many other matters pressing on my mind, but i think, i didn't google every aspect of them, but i KNOW, i can't find anything new about these two.

do not think i didn't try google-ing for these matters, i googled for hours, and in 80 to 90 percent i did find an answer (many times also thanks to this site), but some things just make me cry...

thanks for your time, every bit of help would be appreciated as i am in the end...

Are those files types you had trouble with palm ebook files?

http://www.plkr.org/home

That program says that it is a palm reader and there is a linux version.

Bookmark this site, trust me, you'll be visiting it from time to time:

Windows vs Linux

Then type in 'palm' while using Firefox and you'll arrive at isolox.com and/or plkr.org. iSiloX is also the first hit if you search Google for 'isilo linux' ... hmm
