Talking tried to move files from hdb to hda...

hi, i have xp on hda, and mdk on hdb. i tried to mv files from hdb to hda, here's what i did:

i edited /etc/fstab -----------

[root@localhost etc]# more fstab
/dev/hdb1 / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hdb6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
none /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/scd0,fs=udf:iso9660,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-
1 0 0
none /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=ext2:vfat,--,umask=0,iocharset=iso88
59-1,codepage=850,sync 0 0
/dev/hda1 /mnt/windows ntfs umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-1,rw 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb5 swap swap defaults 0 0

(so now /mnt/windows should be read and write i think)

then umount /mnt/win and remount it again, and do:

[root@localhost etc]# mv mdkbackup /mnt/windows/
mv: cannot create regular file `/mnt/windows/mdkbackup': Read-only file system

suggestions?

Hi

Linux cannot write to NTFS yet, only read.

What people tent to suggest is to create a fat 32 partition to copy files between the two os's

cheers
