Transparent menus in KDE 3.2

I keep seeing desktop pics of that show transparent menus and panels and terminals. I've got the terminal figured out with no real issues. I was wondering if anyone could give me some help on the menus to make the desktop look a bit more hospitable.

While I'm at it I'll throw a few quick Gkrellm questions. Is there a theme somewhere that will allow it to be transparent as well. And does anyone know how to get the battery indicator for a laptop to work with it, or even KDE for that matter. Thanks guys. I appreciate you helping out a newbie to this.

Menu Transparency:

Control Center->Appearence & Themes->Style->Effects->Menu Effects choose "Make Translucent"
