transmisson the torrent client suddenly stopped: segfault

I use DebianGnu/linux Lenny.While I was downloading
slackware13.37 iso using transmission suddenly transmisson stopped.

here is the /var/log/message contents:

" Mar 2 02:34:08 rms kernel: imklog 3.18.6, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
Mar 2 02:34:08 rms rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="3.18.6" x-pid="2329" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com"] restart
Mar 2 02:35:41 rms kernel: [ 1081.395686] transmission[3436]: segfault at 322e3539 ip b773c937 sp b6dd4160 error 4 in libcurl-gnutls.so.4.1.0[b7715000+38000]".

here is my #uname -a output:

Linux rms 2.6.26-1-686 #1 SMP Fri Mar 13 18:08:45 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

What is the reason for this behavior and how to stop it in the future?

Thank you

Were you able to restart transmission and resume the download without having to start from the beginning? Are you saving the iso to a partition that has enough space?

Could be a little-known bug for whichever version of transmission is installed on Lenny. I'm using Debian Squeeze and haven't had that issue. Nor have I had it on Slackware. Transmission has worked well for me the last couple of years.

Yes I was able to restart transmission and resume the download without having to start from the begining.I was having enough free space (more than 6GB in my /home partition, where I was downloading the ISO).

Transmission had worked well for me too.It didn't happened after that.

Thank you for the response.I appreciate it.
