transferring music tracks from banshee to mobile phone memory card

Hi guys, I've managed to import music from cd to banshee but cannot figure out how to transfer the tracks from the library to my phone's memory card, banshee only seems to transfer an empty folder and the phone cannot open it saying "unsupported file type", I'm a very recent convert to linux and want to be able to use the media player to transfer photos and music to my phone, Any help would be very much appreciated, (ubuntu 11.04 unity user).

What did you rip the tracks off of the CD as? It is possible you ripped the tracks into some format the phone doesn't have the capability to play back, such as OGG or FLAC.

I simply don't know what format was used to import the cd, I just clicked the import button in banshee and the tracks appeared in the library, I've looked everywhere in banshee for an option to "sync" with "mobile device" but can't find this option, I'm probably still in "windows mode" mentally, Banshee detects the phone straight away but it is so different to windows media player.

"Adjusting Your Preferences

You can change your CD importing preferences. Go to the Edit menu, and choose the Preferences menu item. Within the Preferences dialog, choose the Source Specific tab and then select Audio CDs in the list of sources."

Just to elaborate. And just a guess. Your Phone probably requires the cd tracks ripped and imported as mp4 fies or mp3. Before they will play on your phone.

Many thanks, however, when i go to edit/preferences/source specific and select audio cd's this is not saved in preferences and when i close the dialogue box the preferences simply revert to default setting "music".
