Transfere server from 20GB -> 40GB
Hi,
I have a linux firewall etc. server running on a 20GB hardisk. The disk is a bit noicy, so I bought a 40GB disk. Now I want to get the system from the 20GB disk onto the 40GB disk, with minimum effort :) On Microsoft systems I have used ghost to take an image of the small disk, and then dropped the image with ghosts onto the bigger disk. But then I only have had one partition on the disk. How shall I do this now, as there is multiple partitions? I guess ghost should work with linux also? Thank you. |
use sys rescue cd!
http://www.sysresccd.org as I write this, I'm doing excactly the same thing! LOL hamish |
Thank you,
I start to download it now. What is the steps I need to take to get the old disk copied to the new one? |
My first disk is actually only 6GB.
I did not get the down load of SystemRescueCd, but I took an ghost image and dumped it on the 40 gig disk. But it does not boot. Only thing I can see is the text "Grub" And then the system freezes :( I can get both disk installed at the same time. Please can some one give me easy intructions how to get the Linux system running from the 40gig disk. I would not want to re-install Linux :( Thank you. |
