Tracking Kernel Releases

I am in job to track kernel releases and our drivers availability. Recently I tracked RCX of 2.6.35 releases.Since the kernel has Final Release but still i see lots of stable releases like 2.6.35.1 quoted in http://www.kernel.org/ has been found. Do I need to track those changes too. Also, I can see the distros like Ubuntu 10.10 Alpha taking the latest stable 2.6.35 kernel.2.6.35 and 2.6.35.1 are both stable kernels so what would Ubuntu prefer to take?any Idea?

Also, I would need to know upto what point this update goes . Eg. 2.6.35.[1-X..]

I don't know what do you mean by 'track'.

Are you tracking them manually yourself by checking the web site? Or do you mean you would like some script or program to track the new releases for you? Most distros do have some kind of management mechanism that tracks the state of new releases for most packages, that includes the kernel (though probably not the latest from kernel.org, but the latest for the distro which is usually behind the kernel.org release).

I don't get the point. Ubuntu will take whatever their maintainers think is better for the distro. That will probably differ on each Ubuntu release. They should as well release announcements on their web site for important packages like the kernel.

If you mean what the max for X is then no one can answer you. That depends on the kernel developers and vary from one release to another. The 2.6.34 series did only release 2.6.34 and 2.6.34.1, .2 and .3; some other series have released much more minors, if my memory serves correctly 2.6.32 runs up to 2.6.32.18.

You can check yourself at the mirrors:
