Unhappy Touchpad not working in ubuntu 9.04


Hi all !!
I have just installed ubuntu 9.04 and my touchpad was working fine for a while ( was working with the live cd .. ) ..
But after installing updates.. my touchpad is not working ..
I tried googling out .. and found few @ ubuntu forums .. but as a newbie .. wasn't able to find out ..
Please help me ..

I guess .. i am able to change the preference using system->preferences->mouse and also with gsynaptics .. but it's not working .. please do help me ..
