totem decoder


I tried to open any dvd or vcd with totem movie player.It is failed with following error massage.

" You do not have a decoder installed to handle this file. You might need to install the necessary plugins."

i googled the plugins of totem. But didnt get solution. Iam new to linux and need some real step-by-step instructions.

i am using red hat linux 5

The sticky at the top of the Fedora Core forum on this website has instructions for adding a livnia repository that contains the media enabled applications and codecs.

Do you mean you have RHEL 5 or RH5. If the latter, install a new version.

Try going to the http://rpm.pbone.net website. Select the advanced search and filter the searches for RHEL 5. Then search for a media package such as xine or totem. Look at the links for the packages listed. One or more should be for a livna repository. Add this repository as an installation source. Then you can use your package system to install livna packages as you would any other package. By filtering the search you found the repo for you particular version.
