totem complains its missing an H264 codec

Hi All,

I'm trying to use totem to view mp4 and flash clips. The OS is debian testing.

Following threads on LQ I've installed an assortment of plugins (gstreamer-base/good/bad/ugly and w32codecs32) but to no avail.

Would appreciate help in getting totem to play these formats.

Thanks,
Mike.

I'd just install vlc. If you need totem then you need to acquire the codecs.

Talking

Do you have the multimedia repository in your " /etc/apt/sources.list" ?

deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org squeeze main non-free --> mine.

I just set that up installed the codecs (64 bit in my case) & ran aptitude update , upgrade and viola I was enjoying my media.

Hope this helps :-)
