BASED ON THE EQUIPMENT IN MY SIGNATURE LINE, WHICH IS THE MOST HIGHLY RECOMENDED LINUX ISO FOR DOWNLOAD? I HAVE USED REDHAT ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO, AND IT SEEMED OK. JUST CURIOUS AS TO YOUR OPINNIONS. THANKS!

If your just starting out with Linux, I would go with Vlos Linux.

Or if you want to get a bit more advanced then i'd go with SlackWare. Vlos is REALLY easy to install and with SlackWare your ganna get into some command prompts and a bit harder installation. So i would recommend Vlos. Comes with Gnome desktop and very user-friendly.

And please quit the shouting. Using CAPS is generally frowned
upon, in e-Mails, newsgroups and online forums.

I would go with Ubuntu it is very user freindly. It is based on the Debian Unstable version, but Ubuntu is very stable. I swiched from Windows XP Pro to Ubuntu about 2 months ago, and it works very good. It has all the latest programs, firefox 1.5, OpenOffice.org 2.0 beta, and many more.

Well, I did some more reading and decided to go with Fedora Core 4. I was EXTREMELY SKEPTICAL, however fedora detected EVERYTHING and even my new HP printer was detected. Gnome is beautiful. Now if only I can learn how to use unix based applictions (i.e., install, organize, etc). It's a lot different to me than in MS XP, where you just install the .exe or .bat, and try and organize everything to the program files folder. I'm not sure where everything is hidden yet at this point. I downloaded a few free linux apps online, but I cant figure out how to install them. Oh well, time to play and learn.
