Total newb question
 

Once I installed Redhat 7.3 I got to the Xwindows login screen. I cant figure out my login >8( I tried my root login and pass, and i tried my kernal login and pass neither work >8( i tried them all in differnt order and same effect. Anyone tell me what iam doin wrong here?

Also when i type my pass, the cursor dosent move where it would normally type ******* is this normal?

what do you mean by kernel login.....If you have forgotten your pass or login log back as root in
single mode....make changes to /etc/passwd......read this:

yeah this is normal for security reasons as they dont want passerby to even kow the number of chars
in your password.....

When I instelled it asked me for 2 differnt passwords, one was somthing about the kernal and other was for root. I made both differnt but neither work.

I got it, thx alot for the help A-Dummy. hehe turns out it was really a total newb thing :p didint relize the login it wanted was Root, or the user account setup at install hehehehe. Sorry to waste your time on such a trivial encounter.
