Downloaded Ubuntu, burned it to a CD. "Windows cannot open file"

I suggest you to ask for "halp" to your English teacher first :)

You're not giving us much info to go on. What were you doing when you got that error message? Can you boot with the CD?

You should not be trying to open the cd with Windows. Set your machine's bios to boot from the cd drive first then boot from the cd.

We need a bit more info than this.
I will assume you downloaded the Ubuntu 8.04 live CD from here http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download is that correct?

When you say you "burned it to a CD" did you burn it as an .iso image, or did you just burn it as a data disc?

Are you trying to install Ubuntu? or are you trying to install it through wubi in Windows? http://wubi-installer.org/

If you are trying to boot the Ubuntu live CD, and install it, you need to:
1) Burn the CD as an .iso image. Follow this guide:

2) Set your PC to boot from the cdrom drive in the computer's BIOS. Consult your computer's owners manual or the manufacturer's website for how to access the BIOS. It generally is pressing delete or F2 key (or possibly a different key) as the computer boots up, before Windows starts to load. Then select the boot options, and select to boot from cdrom. Press F10 to save and exit.

3) This should allow you to boot to Ubuntu from the live CD. You can use it directly from the CD, or choose to install it to your hard drive.
