TOSHIBA Tecra S1 with SuSe 9.3
I installed recently SuSe Linux 9.3 Professional on my laptop. I have dual boot with Windows XP.
Almost everything is working fine. However, I am having problems with my video card. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000. For some reasson, the 1200x1024 resolution has a blinking vertical line in the right end of the screen. This is just annoying! I am using 1600x1400 now which solved the problem (but now I need glasses). On the other hand, everytime I restart from windows the video gets messed up! When I restart from Linux to Windows, the Windows OS gets frozen while loading (so I have to turn it off first if I want to work in Windows). Another problem I have is with the OpenGL support. When I enable the 3D support under YaST, the screensavers seem to work but there is a random black interference. If I dissable the 3D support, these screensavers run very slowly. Surprisingly, the installation recognized my dual pointing system (even with the horizonatl and vertical bars in the touchpad). Of course I do not have support for any of the function keys. I would appreciate if someone could give me a hand in solving these problems. |
