Torrents and the burning of them.

Hi There

For the first time ever I'm just downloading some torrents on linux - if this works it's goodbye windows forever......before with a torrent file (lets say an .avi) I used convert-x-to-dvd which did everything in one go. Literally double click on your downloaded torrent leave it 30 mins and voila there it was burnt on disk.

Will K3B do exactly the same for me or is the process a little more complicated?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Yes, It should work. I have burned videos, music, isos on my k3b. It's not hard to use. The interface may take a little time to get used to but it works well.

AH no luck! It burns beautifully and really quickly but doesn't convert the .avi to a .vob so my DVD player can read it.

Have I done it incorrectly or can K3b not convert so to speak - or is there a piece of software that can?

As ever any advice greatly received!

I was reading your post wrong. I misread that you already ripped the DVD to an .avi file. Here is a link to convert .avis to DVDs. It's a little confusing. It will be easier with practice.

Thanks for the advice Bhert - on that page I found a link to any2dvd which sounds PERFECT. However being a total newbie the instructions to install sound quite confusing!

## Installation instructions ##

* Copy the files 'any2vob' & 'any2dvd' into your $PATH somewhere.

Example:
'/usr/bin' or '/usr/local/bin'

* Copy the files 'any2vob.1' & 'any2dvd.1' into your $MANPATH somewhere.

Example:
'/usr/share/man' or /usr/local/share/man'

* After installation, type `any2dvd -h` or `man any2dvd` for a help page.

* any2vob - Encodes the movies
* any2dvd - Calls on any2vob to encode the movies, then creates the DVD menus & burns to DVD

* Any2vob can be used as a standalone tool seperate from any2dvd, for creation of .VOB files only, type `any2vob -h` or `man any2vob` for a help page.

EEKKKK..........Is there an easier way to explain this? I know for a fact that the above is probably really simple to someone with a bit of nous! But once this is installed it's goodbye windows for good!

download DeVeDe. graphical gui easy to use and it works great!
