Tork, Konqueror and Epiphany
I'm running Tork 0.31 with Konqueror on a Debian (mainly) Lenny installation over Clearwire wireless, but I don't think it is working. I have had a message that Your Broadband router may not be pug-n-playable so I'm wondering if maybe wireless behaves like an intranet and it can't be used on this side.
I restarted the installation wizard just now and that sets Konqueror to believe it has a direct I/N connection, not a proxy. I don't really know what to look for in the information windows or what other configuration options I should be setting in Privoxy. I had been using Epiphany and there's no sign that Tork works with that at all - no specific settings for it anyway. That is not a browser I would use by choice with KDE but Iceweasel (Firefox clone) started giving trouble and now won't load at all, and because it's KDE a lot of settings take Konqueror for granted. So it would help to have any idea of a good way to check apart from posting to a board I have admin access to to check the IP! |

To test if it is working http://check.torproject.org/ There is a problem with the current Debian implementation as ipv6 is active. In the proxy settings change 127.0.0.1 to localhost, the port is 8118 Ensure that the first line of /etc/privoxy/config reads forward-socks4a / 127.0.0.1:9050 . including the dot at the end. Restart the computer I use FoxyProxy in Firefox/Iceweasel to turn it on and off. Select manual proxy Configuration Host or IP Address => localhost Port 8118 Do NOT select "SOCKS proxy?" So in Konqueror you need to mimic those settings. Another option is to create a bin folder in your home folder, download Firefox as a tar.gz and extract it into there and run it from there and install FoxyProxy. You will need to link the Firefox plugins to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins to get flash etc or manually add them to your new Firefox. Test Firefox and Foxyproxy before you muck about with plugins as they may be the source of your problems. I hope this rambling answer gives you enough ideas. Good Luck |
