Too many launcher bars? How to auto-select external monitor vs laptop screen

I tried a few different settings in the nvidia editor to make my external monitor the default if it was connected. What I'd like is when the external monitor is connected (laptop is docked), that monitor is the only active monitor. When it's undocked, it switches back to the laptop screen being the default monitor.

But the first problem is that somehow I've managed to get 4 launcher bars (one got added on each time I was messing around with things ... I'm not sure how).

I tried deleting ~/.gnome2 ~/.gconf and xorg.conf, but no joy.

Ideas on either or both issues?

Ok ... I've found the answer to this (for others who might need it).

<alt><right click> on the launcher bar and it can be remove.
