to switch from console mode to desktop
 

i m unable to switch from console mode to desktop mode .............i m trying shortcut and also "sudo startx" .........so plz tell me to sort this .............

How are you connected to the particular machine? I mean have you taken a remote session or is it a physical machine you are trying to access

If its the physical machine, kindly verify that the machine has the X window environment installed

If its a remote session, you could make use of the VNC viewer to get the remote desktop session of the machine
