I see in the link you posted that the gentlemen in the bug report post mentions that he changed his ~/vnc /xstartup (/bin/sh)
and running gnome-session in fallback mode till gnome 3 plays nice with VNC. (comment #5)

Does this process of turning the switch on for fallback mode help you any?
