Thunderbird Help

Hi guys, so here is the situation. I got sendmail installed on my centos. Configured properly. I tested it using telnet MYIPADDRESS PORT. Where the port I enabled are 25, 587 for sendmail and port 143 for dovecot imap and 110 for pop, using lokkit.

So the ports WORK. NO problem there.

Problem is I have no idea what to do in terms of setting up Thunderbird so I can send emails from my centos server, D3158@MYIPADDRESS to D3158@hotmail.com and vice versa.

Here is where I am stuck:

Create a mail account
- Mail Account Setup
- Your name: D3158
- Email Add: D3158@MYIPADDRESS
- Password : mypassword

- Clicked Next

Then I am presented with the following:
Incoming: IMAP or POP 3
Server hostname: .MYIPADDRESS
Port: Auto or 143 or 993
SSL: Autodetect or None or STARTTLS or SSL/TLS
Authentication: Autodetect or Normal Password or Encrypted Password or Kerberos/GSSAPI or NTLM

Outgoing: SMTP
Server hostname: .MYIPADDRESS
Port: Auto or 587 or 25 or 465
SSL: Autodetect or None or STARTTLS or SSL/TLS
Authentication: Autodetect or Normal Password or Encrypted Password or Kerberos/GSSAPI or NTLM

Username: D3158

At the bottom I did, "retest" and it doesn't work.
Do any of you have/know proper settings I need to cooperate to make this work? Can you share if you do, please?

If you want to use POP, then the port should be 110. If you want to use IMAP, then the port you want to use is 143. This info was in your original message. For the SMTP portion, port 25 is probably what you want. You can manually configure these items, if Thunderbird's auto-detect features get in the way (they often do for me). Unless you have SSL enabled for your mail server, you don't want to enable any of those options. Make sure that your user ID is setup on the sendmail side as well.
