Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

FIXED: I found in system - preferences - preferred applications where to fix it - i changed it to /usr/bin/firefox "%s" and I'm off and running
Problem: firefox can find thunderbird
thunderbird can not find firefox
linux 14 firefox 3.6.24 thunderbird 3.1.16
when in thunderbird looking at an email and i click on a link - it no longer starts firefox at the link - nothing happens
but when in firefox and i decide to send a link from the file menu, it does open thunderbird
untill today both worked - but today firefox popped up a message - why not switch to firefox somwethi8ng - the latest and greatest - so i told it ok
i believe that was a no no - since the fedora managers keep a list of approved versions of whatever and apparently firefox someh=thing is going around their yum system - i thught of this in retrospect
it did its thing - and then firefox would not start when i used the icon in the panel
i opened a terminal and typed firefox and it started
i opened the applications menu and picked firefox from the internet menu and it started
so i deleted the firefox icon from the panel and told the system to install the icon in the applications menu in the panel - and i had firrfox running
now when i run thunderbird and select a link
so i started to dig and i find out about profile managers and i'm off in a land where I wish I weren't
can anyone tell me ho9w to get thunderbird to start firefox when i click on a link?
would be much appreciated
maybe i need to make an entry in the alternatives system?
maybe i need to edit the thunderbird profile file? - which i dont know how to do
