Talking This might be of interest, virtual machine?

I ran across a program that does not mention LINUX as an OS that it will work on. It is for running pc games without the need of the cd to play it. It mentions that it creates a 'virtual cd' and I got to thinking...DANGEROUS GROUND.....what if...you could use this program like unetbootin to load linux into your pc as a virtual os for those who want to try it first? I know just enough stuff now to allow me to totally screw things up big time...but i thought, MAYBE it would be of use..dont know...enlighten me oh wise ones of the ether world?

I forgot to post on above ramblings that what I MEANT was for folks who currently have WINDOWS OS on their pc to download this and install it and that they might be able to try out linux that way..ALSO I want to use it on my pc on the MINT side because gaming on the winxp side is way too slow and locks up 75% of the time....getting to where Windows is not my cup of tea at all

they have on the same pg a product that you can create a desktop OS it mentions, dont know enough technical stuff yet, but alot of the things mentioned in it sound an awful lot like LINUX programs...gnome kde,,,others...this might be useful to others? myself I already have linux mint13 maya cinnamon and love it. BUT just thought other newbies or others checking it out like i did for a few weeks before the plunge of download and install. SO here it is again I hope that this will help someone out there.

Technologically that sounds interesting, but i don't think the hassle vs useage base would be worth it. Maybe it takes off, but already ggetting a live system up is trivial for most users.

Remember that many users do use windows just because it is what they have always used.

Many of them cannot be bothered. The few looking for alternatives, i don't think would have a problem with copying a cdr and a quick reboot. Remember that those programmes do pretty much what a native mount command does. It just mounts an iso and makes it appear as an extra cdrom drive. That technology has been around for ages. It was one of the main reasons i never bothered with getting A playstation when they firstcame out
