Hello,

Is any one familiar with this message (vim: error while loading shared libraries: libtermcap.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)

I wanted to use vim today and got this error, I used to use vim but I am not able any more and get this message.

How can I fix it??

Best Regards,
Avan

Hello dasy2k1,

I am not a Linux user, I just use the terminal as access for the computer cluster that I run my calculations on it and needed to learn some about it therefore when I get a problem I don't know how to deal with it.
I opened my .bashrc file what I understood mostly was just the alias shortcuts

ok.

basically the error is being caused by VIM trying to referance a shared library that dosent seem to be installed
it would appear to me that some updates have been installed on your server cluster that has replaced those library files

if you speak to the cluster admin they should be able to either install the library for you
