thinking email clients
 

I haven't been too happy with Mozilla Mail as email client, with 7 or 8 POP email accounts, it hasn't help me organise myself much.

So I was looking a Mutt, cos I like command line stuff, but it seems madly advanced, being all MUA and not MTA. Truth is of course, I'm not competent enough to set up the MTAs (sendmail/fetchmail), and I hardly see the value of a sole MUA like Mutt.

Anybody with any guiding thoughts for me?

If you are using kde, try kmail...

If you are looling for a good...no great GUI email client (which also has a calendar,contact manager and more) then Evolution is a great one.

However, if you really just want to access your mail from the command line then all I have to ask is....why? Do you only use Linux from the command line? If so then a command line only email client makes sense...otherwise IMAO, it does not. Except as a back-up for when you can't access X.

Just my 2 cents. But evolution is a great product. I started out with kmail but find evolution a lot better. Give it a try.

Thanks profjohn 4 answer. In my RH7.2 days I did use kmail, not bad, but not my sort of thing.
devin, I think I'll try your suggestion. Evolution smells gnomey (same Mexican busybody, right?) but I'll try it on xfce, which I'm currently experimenting with.

Yes...very. But it plays nice with Xfce4, which is what I use. I find a lot of the KDE apps don't 'play nice' with xfce4, just in terms of staying on their own workspace and so on.

However, now I am starting to worry about professing the greatness of Evolution just in case you might be disappointed :) guess it all depends on what you are looking for, but I find it the best email client out there.

BTW, xfce is great...although I am starting to be lured by Enlightenment's shiny bells and whistles, but the last time I used it it was slow and crashed a lot....xfce is fast and never crashes...enjoy :)
