The requested URL /defaultsite was not found on this server.

Hi,

I get the following error when browsing to my domain name from firefox.

Not Found
The requested URL /defaultsite was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) PHP/5.2.0-8+etch13 Server at www.?????????.com Port 80

Basically I have my own debian/apache webserver and have changed the A record for www.mydomainname.com to my servers IP address.

If I put my servers WAN IP address into the browser I get my website (although it shows up in the /apache2-default/ folder which i don't want).

I also get the website if I put my local IP address into the firefox browser.

If I put www.mydomainname.com into the firefox browser then I get the Not Found error described above. However, if I use internet explorer or google chrome I get my website!!!???

- How do I get my website working from firefox?
- What is /defaultsite? I havn't seen or specified that name anywhere.
- Once I have got the site working in firefox, how do I then make my website appear as www.mydomainname.com and not www.mydomainname.com/apache2-default?

Thanks for you help.

You must have firefox configured to run through either a web or dns proxy, remove those settings, or refresh the dns/web proxy, and your site should appear fine.

Your other question regarding /default-site seems obvious to me, just move the default documents into the documentroot of apache.
