here's where I am: I have partioned my harddrive into two halves. The c: drive now has win 98 loaded and running fine.
the d: drive is unformatted and awaiting linux. I downloaded both iso images (enigma-i386-disc1.iso & enigma-i386-disc2.iso) and burned both files to cd.

The problem now is when i load disk 1 and restart the comp it will not boot from the cd. My system is setup to boot from cd-rom as this works fine with windows. If I load one of the cd's I burned I cannot access the individual files, all I see is just the enigma-i386-iso.disk1 file name. Doulble clicking on this file name does nothing. I referred to the online manual and it says I can create a boot disk but I can't access the rawrite util on cd 1 ?

Is this even worth continuing or should go out and buy a boxed set of rh 7.2 and scrap the downloaded images?

when burning the image.. you need to specify that your are burning a cd image.. and iso image in fact. what software are you using to burn with??

I'm using Adaptec's Create a cd to burn the disks. Does this mean the current burned disks no longer will work? If so I will need to d/l iso's again as I lost them when i partitioned the drive.

well, if you have them on cd, then you already have them and don't need to redownload them.. just copy them over to your hard drive... but the easiest way to burn an iso image with adaptec, is to insert your blank cd-r, when the spash screen to create a disk comes up.. exit that.. then browse to your iso image file you want to burn, then double click it.. adaptec should be associated with a iso file type and start the burning of the image the correct way..

To create a CD from a disc image using Easy CD Creator 4.x:

From the File menu, select Create CD from Disc Image.

Select the image file (.cif file) you want to make into a CD and click Open. The CD Creation Setup dialog box appears.

Click OK to start recording.

I think when the select file dialog box comes up, set the file type to All Files, then the iso file should show up, don't worry if it isn't a .cif file as the steps above indicate. After that it should know what to do.
