One of the best things you can do is to install Linux and start using it everday to get more acquainted with it.
Learn commandline as you go and take your time.

Depending on what distro your running, you can learn a lot about your Linux distribution by reading the documentation that was written for it. Getting your hands on a Linux Bible will help and save you from possible headaches.
