The ignorespace option for history does not work in pclinuxos 64bit

Hello

When I was using pclinuxos 32 bit version, the ignorespace worked without a hitch. Now that I am using pclinuxos 64 bit, it does not seem to work. Below is how the HISTCONTROL line looks in my /etc/profile file.

Quote:
HISTCONTROL=ignoredups:erasedups:ignorespace
I even tried using ignorespaces to no avail

Any ideas why the ignorespace doesn't work?

thanks

Not sure why, but this method works for me. I put the command below in my .bashrc file

Code:
export HISTCONTROL=ignoredups:erasedups:ignorespace
Now when I open a terminal session and put a space before any command it is not recorded to the history file. It's better than nothing but at least it does what I want.
