The idea of LINUX


Hi all

What is the basic idea of linux?
What is the main bennefit of using it ?

Is it a multi tasking OS ?

Anyway, as I see it:
Freedom to choose which system and which applications to use.
Software that is shared with everyone, without restrictions on use and modification.

Depending on what distribution of Linux that you are currently running on your computer this benefit should be apparent and present to the observation.
