the first cd is not bootalbe
Hi everyone,
I am not sure if the topic is right for this forum but I have no idea who I can ask for help! I really hope that someone would be able to answer me! Any help is welcome! So the problem is that I downloaded Suse 9.3 Pro using torrent after that I burn it (as usually) with the Nero under WinXP> Then I tried to install it but I received a message that it is "invalid disk"! this is not happening for first time I have the same problem with Fedora core and Red Hat!That's why I don't believe that this is a corrupted archive! If someone can tell me what is wrong please write! Thanks in advance! P.S. Once again I am sorry for asking you thinks like that but I couldn't find any help in the other forums! |
hi!
1.) donīt know which isoīs (and where) you download. the normal iso-files ARE bootable!.. 2.) as far as I know, suse9.3 is not available for official download... 3.) donīt know how you burn under nero.. |
First, You'll want to make sure that you're not burning the iso file onto the cd (if you're drag-n-dropping the ISO in Nero, that's probably what's happening). You need to look for a 'Burn CD Image' option in the menus of Nero.

First download the iso file, then burn the image, not the file.

No it was Zip and I first opened it with daemon tool and then I burn it! It is not official but already available! What ecxactly shall I do? Thanks once again!
|
the question is, does your zip (or whatever)-file contain the boot-image from original cd??????
seems you do nothing else than burning the files from your īmountedī file on cd. how should that be bootable! |
Ok explain me like to an idiot where shall I find the boot-image? And what shall I do after that?
|
After you unzip it does it give you an ISO file, if so then you need to burn it as an image. If it doesn't leave you an ISO file then the site you are getting your files from probably isn't any good. An ISO "burnt as an image" will boot.

well, there are no iso files! Ok then may I aks one more question? If I want to install with diskettes I should first write the diskettes, right? ok it is akoing for an image file, so the question is what is the name of this image file which one shall I give? Do you think this is going to work?

a disk-setup is not asking for an iso!
its possible to boot via disk and then choose the source files from lan,cdrom,hdd,..... but think the easiest and probably fastest way is to download an iso-file! check your nearby mirrors! |
