Text file default opening program - have set, and it still ignores me!

I open text files quite often. Some of them open in gedit; but most will say "do you want to run this in the terminal". It's like, what the heck? They're all just ebook files.

I have right clicked on the text files and went to properties, and Gedit is selected as the opening program. Is there somewhere else I can set this? I am using Fedora 9 64 bit and I am running Gnome.

Thanks,

L

in properties / permissions uncheck "Allow executing file as program"
or
Code:
cd ( to folder)
cd ~/Documents
chmod -x *.*
