Testing burned media

Hi guys.

I've used K3b to burn an .iso image to a CD using the 'verify' option to check there were no errors. However, there's a bug in this program that always reports an error in the first track. I suspect this is because for some reason the program spits the disk out after having burned it rather than checking it straight away. K3b doesn't offer a 're-test' option.

So to cut a long story short, how can I *now* test this CD to ensure it's 100% error free wrt the original .iso image from my hard drive?

Hi,

Look at 'CdromMd5sumsAfterBurning'. The technique can be used for other media; cd/dvd, usb etc.

The above link and others available from 'Slackware-Links'. More than just SlackwareŽ links!

Thanks, Onebuck. I've junked K3b now, having discovered there's a feature within Nautilus that one can use to burn images and it automatically generates and compares checksums, too. A much better solution.
