Unhappy test, how to recover root's password


Hi!

I'm trying do some tests about recover root's password but I'm having some problems...

My OS used to do the test is fedora 12

I'm trying to boot with ubuntu 10.04 and trying to recover the rot's password...

When I edit /etc/shadown and erase the password field, the system can't logging anymore, all the other users cann't logging anymore

root password is no longer

If it doesnt let you log in as root, try to log in as a local user
and do 'sudo bash' to try to become root and fix your password file that
way, or you're gonna have to boot up with a knoppix CD or similar bootable CD and mount your file system to edit the password file
to fix it.

OK.. When I edit /etc/shadow and erase password's field all users can't logging anymore...

I tried with an ordinary user..

I back and try to erase the line about the user that a erase password's field, but when i try to logging the user still in the GUI login.. :|

How can I del the user with the live cd?
