[SOLVED] terminal failure to E:?

Hello.

today, i am doing to the terminal for install the package, but seem a failure unable to E: ?

here is an example.

Hello,

Did you run:

Code:

apt-get update

before trying to install that? I assume you have connection to the internet. Also it's always a good idea to post what distro and version you're using when asking a question.

Hi,

Try putting sudo in front of the command:

Code:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install  compizconfig-settings-manager

and watch out for typos, you've got some in your install command. The package is compizconfig-settings-manager.

yes, it is worked.

i have another question, i am sure you have a lots of experience on linux.

is ubuntu never got a virus or infection? because i am new to linux-ubuntu.

Hi,

Never say never! I personally have never gotten a virus/malware/spyware or any of that kind while using Linux both in personal and professional life. That doesn't mean however that there are no viruses for Linux. Those viruses that exist for Linux are not spreading around because, in my opinion, Linux isn't used on the same amounts of computers as Windows for example. Linux is by nature a lot safer than Windows on various accounts. Have a look at the following sites, they explain in plain words lots of things about Linux. The virus part is also explained in them.

Thanks for the link, i am really excite to learning about ubuntu, so yeah i am awake, as of time 12:42 am. hehe.
