Terminal background

How do I change the terminal background to black and the letters to like green or orange. I have seen a lot of these and I don't know how to do that. Can someone please help me?

There are a lot of settings that you can adjust if you just start looking in the settings of the console if you are in the kde or other windows manager enviroment.

If you are in the console with no window manager there are man files that can help you try man console. That should give you a good starting point and you can find more information from there. This is the fun part.

KDE, Gnome

In KDE's Konsole terminal you can change and edit the outfit in the Settings > Schema menu.

In the Gnome terminal you must open the dialog in the Edit > Profiles... menu to change colors etc.

Reading the BASH documentation will give you some quite esoteric hints on changing the shell prompt.

Other terminal applications and shells are likely to have similar options as well.
