Terminal and Command Prompt Manual for Beginners?

What is the leading few amongst the multitude out there? Would "Introduction To Linux, A Hands on Guide" by Machtelt Garrels be included?

That's a typical 'there's no best' Qn like which distro is 'best ie highly subjective.
I can recommend http://rute.2038bug.com/index.html.gz

Incidentally, I would advise not using your email as your id, as there are bots on the net that look for email addrs and spam them.

If you specifically mean a terminal/command prompt guide (also known as the "Shell"), I have the book below and would recommend it:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linux-Phrase.../dp/0672328380

This is from the U.K. site, but this title is also available from the U.S. and other countries' Amazon sites.

Here's another good website, with a book available as either a free download or to buy (worth every penny):

I'd endorse Chris's recommendation of RUTE: it's old but it's a great teaching text that starts at the very beginning. Also, a useful checklist of commands is the Unix Toolbox
http://cb.vu/unixtoolbox.xhtml
I keep a file in which I record anything new that I learn (and I'm still doing it!)

Thank you all, for your recommends. I have them all punched up on desktop and all are very helpful. Much better than the stuff I was trying to get thru!
