Temporarily prevent suspend/hibernate

I have my computer set to suspend after 30 minutes of inactivity, however sometimes I need it to stay on for longer periods of inactivity without suspending. Is there a simple program or a shell script that can keep my computer from suspending/hibernating?

Thanks!

If you use a desktop environment like Gnome, KDE or Xfce you can probably adjust this via the available menus.
I know it for sure for Gnome (on my Gentoo installation).

System --> Power Management (or similar - I run a localized version)
