Temporarily prevent FTP uploads from certain accounts

What is the least painful way to temporarily prevent uploads to an FTP server by certain accounts? they all only upload directly to their home directory setup in /etc/password

Stop FTP uploads

There may be settings in the FTP server for this.

If not, remove the WRITE permission for the user and group from those folders.
