teams issue in linux
Hi,
I have downloaded teams.deb package from the microsoft website (and installed on Ubuntu 20.4 and after installation it gives me this error regardless how many times I try to fix the issue. "Someone has already set up Teams for your organization or ask admin to give you access to the organization or use a different account." I used the different account but it did not help. Tried also to login in new cognitive page but the same error. Do we need to give privilege to Microsoft teams user by root? sounds like the error when a user is not in the group of an installed application. Have no idea how to give this permission. Thanks for any expert advice. |

There are how-to guides (with pictures) that you can find with a search for "microsoft teams ubuntu"...one of which being: https://websiteforstudents.com/how-t...u-20-04-18-04/ And did you try to look up the error?? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mic...dy-setup-teams |
teams needs a username/password. The account you use has no right to do what you tried to do. Local root account will not help on it at all, this is an account at Microsoft, on your teams server.
You need to ask your teams' admin to: either configure your user or give another account - exactly as it was written: Quote:

@pan64
Then I can not add the user to the teams group like any other package installed. This is a personal account and I dont understand why do I get this error on ubuntu but not on mobile/android @TB0ne $ wget https://packages.microsoft.com/repos...7556_amd64.deb $ dpkg -i teams_1.4.00.7556_amd64.deb As I mentioned already tried this one: https://websiteforstudents.com/how-t...u-20-04-18-04/ |

And did you look at your exact error that was mentioned on the Microsoft forums (the link that was looked up and given to you??) Did you try anything there? |
Thanks for your reply @TBOne but honestly I dont understand your anger and the way you are acting. If you read the microsoft page you post here it is already stated clearly to : Use the different account / or try to login in new cognitive page. Which I CLEARLY MENTIONED IN MY POST
AND I can not help you to assure that my credential is correct If you think you are not going to be of any help to NEWBIE linux questions because you are guru, just skip replying on newbie questions since people are already scared of linux difficulties and this attitude which is unfortunately common, make them more scared of gurus. |
@TBOne
I did a reasonable research before asking this question and you would have notice this if you read my post precisely. And the benefit for linux forum is to make it available for newbies not shouting at them to spend hundreds of hours for research before heading to Linux forums to ask a question. Linux is not just technic it is also atitude of sharing the knowledge without being arogant |

And again: you did not mention ANYTHING you tried, did you? Probably TB0ne looks angry, but I guess he would gladly help you if you would have given anything to work with. Anyway, if it was a student account: you need to check it with your school (or schoolmaster). If you want to join to any [private] group (= use teams together with that group of people) you need to talk to the admin of that group. We will not be able to configure your account. |

No one asked you to do 'hundreds of hours for research'...just a LITTLE bit of effort. As in, putting your error into Google and pressing ENTER. Which pulls up the link I handed you, from the Microsoft Teams forum, with your EXACT ERROR, and how to fix it. Good luck; you'll need it. |
Now lets see! Yes you are right Guru! I have not provide any link for you, because you don't understand and You Don't want to understand.
<removed> This is You infact. A shouting <removed> Emoji who miserably looking after score. This is you who Need to be Good Luck, poor pitty you <removed> so called Guru I dont <removed> give a <removed> about Guru because thats how you like to be treated Quote:

You provided no details and act like this after you're asked to?? Again...not a Linux issue at all, and you were even given a link specifically to the Microsoft forums, where the exact question was asked and answered, with a solution. Again; good luck. You'll need it. |
@nselx,
You've been a member of LQ for enough time to know that posting a number of profanities is unacceptable. @everyone, I see no point in adamant arguments about who posted, what, and when. If more information is needed to help the OP, then ask for it. If the OP does not provide adequate updates, then there's little other persons may be able to offer to help. People make omissions and mistakes or overlook things, being highly touchy about single point details and amplifying them into overriding arguments that derail the thread, do nothing productive here. If there is still information sought from the OP, please repeat and be specific. If you, nselx, have any additional information about your process diagnosing this issue, please provide more information. Linux or not, this problem is being seen on a Linux system. One suggestion though is to see if the same problem exists on a Windows system to at least confirm that all is accepted by Microsoft's servers. LQ Rules: Quote:
